About Wan Chai
Wanchai is situated at the northern shore of Hong Kong Island. It is one of the busiest commercial areas in Hong Kong. The area can be divided into two sides. The reclaimed area north of Gloucester Road is often referred to as Wan Chai North. It has conglomerate numerous office towers, hotels and an international conference and exhibition centre
Meanwhile, the area south of Johnston Road (Queen's Road East, Spring Garden Lane and Ship Street) is referred to as Wanchai South, in which the area had long been the settlement for Chinese since Hong Kong was opened for trade. The historical rudiment can still be found with the landmarks there, such as Old Wan Chai Post Office, Hung Shing Temple, Blue House, Wanchai Market and so on. Apart from modern commercial buildings, the southern area is also a tightly-knitted social network in Wanchai community, connecting small neighborhoods. Vitality is imbued into the traditional streets and local culture.
